Privacy policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

ipterm has no accounts, sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. This page explains the small amount of information it has to handle to work.

What ipterm processes

your IP address
Every website receives your IP address when you visit it. ipterm shows it back to you. It is also used as a counter for about one minute to stop automated abuse (rate limiting), then discarded. ipterm does not store it.
approximate location
Your city, region, network and time zone come from Cloudflare, which hosts ipterm and derives them from your IP address as part of delivering the page. ipterm displays them and does not store them.
addresses you look up
When you look up an IP address, that address is sent to IPinfo to find its owner and location. When you look up a network (ASN), its number is sent to RIPEstat, and registry (whois) lookups go to the regional internet registries. When you look up a domain, its name is sent to Cloudflare's DNS resolver (1.1.1.1), which is also used to find hostnames; a domain whois lookup sends the name to that domain's registry and registrar. Your own IP address is not passed to these services as part of the lookup.
cached results
Lookup results are cached for up to six hours so repeated lookups are fast. The cache is keyed by the address that was looked up and is not linked to you.
browser storage
If you change the color theme or turn off the CRT effects, your choice is saved in your own browser (local storage). It never leaves your device and you can clear it at any time.

Hosting and service providers

ipterm runs on Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver the site and may keep limited operational logs under its own privacy policy. Lookups use IPinfo and RIPEstat as described above. The site's fonts and map data are served from ipterm itself, so no font or map service sees your visit.

Sponsored links

ipterm may show one short line marked sponsored next to some results. It is plain text and a link: no ad scripts, no tracking pixels and no cookies, and nothing about you is shared with sponsors. Some sponsored links include a referral code that identifies ipterm, not you, so the sponsor can credit the visit. Once you click through, the sponsor's own privacy policy applies.

Your choices and rights

Because ipterm does not keep personal information tied to you, there is usually nothing to access, export or delete. If you have a question or a request under privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, contact us using the address below and we will respond.

Children

ipterm is a general technical tool and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If ipterm starts handling information differently, for example by adding analytics, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
